About the Preschool Room

Our Preschool room at Active Discoverers Educare is filled with laughter and exploring, our focus as teachers is to support the tamariki ma (children) to become confident and competent learners with the guidance of teachers. We challenge children to express their thoughts, ideas and interests within their preschool environment, by setting up an environment that allows for endless learning opportunities.
We also support our before School children by providing half an hour 4 days a week to support their transition to School readiness, we want our children to feel confident when starting School and by achieving this we as teachers feel it’s our goal to prepare them with knowledge before they reach that next chapter in life.
Our programme planning is based around the children’s interest and what they are following at the time. We ask the children as a group what learning they want to achieve and how can we achieve this together as a team as everyone in our Preschool room is there to help one and other.
We have 3 mat times a day 1 in the morning to welcome the tamariki ma (children) for the day with a few songs to get the morning started. We then have one just before lunch to farewell our half day children and also to spend time together learning new songs, books and games. Our afternoon mat time is to allow the children to have some down time with a soft story to end their day.
